Training Like a Martial Artist
While students of the Theorem Magistrum are provided with the basics required to facilitate an education, including housing and food, anything beyond the necessities requires them to take on additional responsibilities. Artificers from the College of Material Science may be called on to handle maintenance around Magistrum City. Archeologists from the College of History may assist in expeditions or in archival work.
As Enigma’s apprentice, Edmund is often called in to help assist his professor when he’s working a case or take over his classes when he is away on an extended leave in the middle of the semester. The responsibilities are many, but they afford him additional resource allocations to compensate.
At least, that’s true during the semester. When Enigma doesn’t need him, and there are no classes to teach, he takes advantage of his double major in the College of Martial Arts at the Training Center.
Though it was constructed to give Martial Arts students specifically a place to hone themselves, it is open to students of any of the five colleges. As such, members of the College of Martial Arts can mentor students from other colleges who are looking to better themselves.
Edmund is one such mentor. He remembers well what it was like growing up as a sickly youth, before his father gave him Volpes’s life-changing medicine. And while he knows that most people will never have that advantage, he is an experienced and trained former prize fighter, and he knows how to set someone up for success.
He sees one of his clients coming up to him now, and he smiles. They might not be able to keep up with him now, but if they keep at it there’s no telling how far they can do.
This stunning piece was a YCH from the even-talented Backcat. He does an excellent job with fighters and athletes of all types, and when I saw it I instantly pictured Edmund in that pose.
And as someone who has just started a more tradition fitness routine, I like to look to Edmund can as inspiration for me.
