An anthro grey wolf with golden eyes and brown hair wears an armored tunic, pointing a sword at the viewer with a determined gaze. His cape billows behind him, filling the background scene. His free hand rests atop his chest, demonstrating grace and poise.

To The Point

“I’m not fond of a direct approach. But there can be no disputing its effectiveness.”

It takes a rare fool for Professor Rabrandt “Enigma” Cyanis to take the field and enter direct combat. His preferred methods of conflict resolution involve more finesse and subtlety. But occasionally there is neither enough time nor opportunity to dissuade a problematic individual.

Such problems never happen while on his beloved homeplane of Crossroads. There’s a common understanding that anyone who can explore the plane without assistance is capable of holding their own in a fight. Between the danger of picking a fight one can’t win and the beasts who roam free in the wilderness, most rogues and bandits know better than to accost travelers.

And yet, on other worlds, those with a scholar’s bearing present a tempting target. Hailing from a place where self-defense training is mandatory for those looking to venture outside major cities, Enigma experienced something akin to culture shock the first time a bandit attacked him while on foreign soil.

These days, between the yearly renewal of his self-defense license and regular spars with his tigerkin apprentice, Enigma keeps his skill as sharp as his blade. Those looking to prey upon a weary wanderer will find more than they bargained for.

“Craven dastards. A few grazes and you’ve already broken ranks.” The irritation writ plane of his face, the mage breaths a heavy sigh and places his sword back into his scabbard. Under different circumstance, he might have chased the bandits down in pursuit. Yet his client was waiting for him, and he dared not tarry for longer than necessary.

Another incredible piece by LittleBadWolf, and a bit of tie-in/minor retcon of a few previous pieces. We can just say those older pieces come from a less experienced Enigma to make everything fit into place.
