The Celebratory Meal

It may not be home, but this new plane Enigma has found himself in still has need of a skilled detective willing to work freelance. In the course of solving a case, the mind mage heard rumors that one particular noodle shop, run by a local ratkin family, was held in high esteem as one of the best places to go for a bite to eat. After pocketing his payment for a job well done, he chose to see if there was truth to the tales.

One of the greatest perks of being a planeswalker was, to him, the ability to learn about cultures and people outside his own, and local cuisine was yet another, delicious part of that. Even better than the food, he realized that the charm of the establishment was the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the owners cultivated. They were more than happy to answer his questions regarding the ramen sitting in front of him, indulging his curiosity.

He knew he wouldn’t be able to bring a sample back home with him. Food would rapidly rot upon contact with the vast aether of the Blind Eternities, but he could return with the knowledge of it. And the chefs from the Culinary Arts program at the College of Creative Arts would certainly enjoy adding a new recipe and style to their repertoire.

As another mouthful fired his taste buds, Enigma couldn’t help but smile.

As those close to me might know, ramen is one of my favorite meals. So when I saw this YCH from LittleBadWolf back in September of 2023, I had to have Enigma engorging himself on the best possible dish in a Cyberpunk-inspired universe. (Although I didn’t actually upload it until January of 2024.)

Sharing a meal with someone is, after all, the best way to understand them.
