Sword in one hand, spell in the other.
“I may be an academic and detective by trade, but don’t underestimate me. I have more than a few tricks up my sleeve.”
There is nothing inherently special about this piece in particular, from August of 2018, in the grand scheme of my lore and story. However, it is notable for being the first YCH I ever commissioned from Marsel-Defender, an artist I now call my friend.
Over the years, I have commissioned many more such YCHs from Marsel, and it is safe to say that her style has helped sculpt and define my characters in ways I would struggle to properly capture in words. My process involves improvising scenarios based on art I find as much as it does creating new stories and scenarios from whole cloth, so having artists the routinely produce work I can bounce off of like this does wonders for me.
I can only hope I’ve contributed as much to her skill as she has to my own.
