“Remember us. Remember that we once lived.”
It was not uncommon for Rabrandt to visit the First, being the only member of the Scions who yet had the capability of doing so. One doesn’t place their life on the line saving another world not their own without forging a few friendships on the way. And in his spare time, the Hrothgar took pleasure in ensuring the peoples of the First were doing well in the absence of his old friend, their former leader.
And yet, during each of these visits, he would make a point to journey beneath the sea, to the ageless city representing one man’s millennia of sorrow for the loss of his people.
To Amaurot. To the civilization whose history was long forgotten. To the bitter rivals so wrapped in their own torment over what they had lost they failed to see the value in the society that had been born in its absence. To those we have lost, and those we may yet save.
Though he alone was capable of making the journey, he was not alone in making that vow, for they would shoulder the burden together. They would carry on the memory of this lost people.
The Scions would remember that the people of lost Amaurot once lived.
Another piece from LittleBadWolf back in September of 2021. The city in their YCH looked so much like Amaurot in Final Fantasy XIV that I had to get it for my own character.
In hindsight, reading back a lot of what I’ve written in my “FF XIV fan-fiction” up until this point feels a bit too much like raw regurgitation of the plot of the game, without adding enough to make it transformative. It’s something I will need to work on if I continue to do lore pieces like this.
