Rabrandt of the Red

Another one of Rabrandt’s many disciplines is that of the Red Mage. Though more specialized casters are able to wield powerful magicks, drawing aether from the land around them, the Red Mage must utilize their body’s own internal supply of aetheric energy.

To compensate for each individual spell’s lack of striking power, they’re learned methods to draw upon the residual power leftover from casting one spell to chain into another, producing a volley that mages of the Black and White cannot match in terms of speed.

Further, as they chain spells together, they imbue their swords with magic, producing a stunning and deadly flourish when the moment is just right.

While not a master of any particular facets of combat, the Red Mage is well-rounded, capable of adapting to even the direst situation. And after seeing how well Alisaie took to the style, it’s no surprise the Hrothgar Warrior of Light would be interested enough in learning in himself.

This piece, also from May of 2021 by LittleBadWolf, is a twin of The Fencing Lesson. I couldn’t decide to order this YCH template for Enigma or for Rabrandt, so I ultimately decided to do both.

I wish I had done more with this piece than regurgitate the gameplay style and lore of Red Mages in Final Fantasy XIV without adding anything myself. But such is the benefit of hindsight.
