Practical Application

Yes, that’s Enigma. You’re probably wondering he’s swinging around so high up right now.

Enigma and his symbiotic partner have spent quite a long time together at this point, and now they have almost no difficulty sustaining their combined form for long periods of time.

And yet, they are still constantly yearning to learn and expand upon their own capabilities. Combining the adaptive nature of the symbiote’s form and the illusion magic, Enigma is able to create and summon something as intricate as a magic blade out of his partner.

Using that same principal, Enigma wondered what else he would be able to craft in real time. In small scale tests, he was able to create and disperse incredibly strong symbiotic ropes in real time, capable of gripping onto any surface while supporting his weight.

Fast forward to today, and Enigma has found that the symbiotically enhanced physiology of his merged form is more than capable of handling the strain of all the G-forces that one would be subject too while suspending in the air on a swinging pendulum. And in this discovery, he’s found an incredible new degree of freedom not too dissimilar to experience of having his spark ignite and feeling all of the worlds of the multiverse open to him.

This commission came from Waddledox, back in March of 2019.

If it wasn’t immediately obvious from my appreciation of Venom and the symbiotes, I have been a huge fan of Spider-man for most of my life. This piece comes from a desire to have Symbiote Enigma get closer to the wall-crawler in terms of abilities, swinging across the city using ropes dynamically forged from symbiote instead of webs. In theory, the enhancement to his strength and endurance provided by their union would make him more than capable to performed such acrobatics.

At the time this was drawn, I had not yet established all the details of what would become the Theorem Magistrum and Magistrum City. Yet, I was confident that I wanted Enigma to come from an area where lush greenery was a common sight, and nature wasn’t separate from “civilization”.

It’s a sub-theme of Crossroad’s lore I’m more than happy to expand on.
