Like an Interplanar Athlete
The discovery of a previously unknown plane is usually a time of fascination for the academics that make their home in Magistrum City. The Theorem Magistrum prides itself on incorporating and integrating the knowledge acquired from other planes into their own teachings, in order to better refine their own goods and processes. Normally, this only represents a few noteworthy changes and adaptations at a time, as the institution has already accrued vast swaths of knowledge from planeswalkers across the multiverse.
Machresse’s introduction to the wider multiverse is a much different beast altogether. In comparison to most of the other planes known to the Magistrum, it is vastly different both to the cultures that were brought to Crossroads by the planeswalkers of old and most of the planes uncovered in the time since.
It has brought a wealth of new technology for artificers, researchers, archivists, and artisans to take advantage of and incorporate into their existing styles. The planeswalker Noxie, a native to Machresse, on request of Professor Rabrandt “Enigma” Cyanis (and for a nominal fee), has been more than willing to share what she knows from living there firsthand.
While there is much that has been introduced to the Magistrum in the wake of all this, she made a point to introduce herself to Enigma’s apprentice, Edmund, having heard much of the young tiger from his mentor. She brought with her a gift in the form of a set of athletic wear, popular with the most fitness-oriented youths of Machresse, like the ones that go to her boxing gym.
To Edmund’s surprise, they’re both very comfortable and very durable, perfect for his active lifestyle. Time will tell if he incorporates them into his “usual” look, but for now he’s happy to experiment.
This was a fun little piece I commissioned from Zeitzbach, as a YCH before I had fully settled on Noxie as a character or what I would do with Machresse as a setting.
But I love the idea of cultures melding together, incorporating bits and pieces of each other to form something new and unique. We’re so much better when we come together, weaving our differences into new strengths.
