Illusory Duplicate

The custom card designed with DanSyron’s artwork in mind. After his work with Memory Extraction, he was always going to be the person I tapped for this, and I was lucky he was available.

This might seem like an innocuous card in the modern context, and that’s because it is. However, I hasten to point out that at the time I concocted this, the first clone card to completely ignore the Legend rule had not yet been previewed. (Sakashima the Imposter doesn’t count because the Legend rule is still being applied.) The drawback that it is sacrificed when targeted was added to the card more for flavor reasons than power reason, since it is an illusion and that’s an effect common to illusions.

Unfortunately, even in games where custom cards are allowed, I rarely have reason to use it because so many cards exist that ignore the Legend rule, but I’m happy that I was the “first” to get on the ground floor.
