Grim Resolve

The Final Days are upon us. The star and its people fated to sink onto oblivion, lost amidst untold carnage: Blood and despair as far as the eye can see. And yet, surrounded by utter hopelessness…

…there were those who stood with the light of hope, in defiance of their impending doom. Among them, a simple farm boy from a backwater town who, among no end of trials and struggles, grew into one of the realm’s greatest champions.

Now a man, he takes up the scythe once more, to reap and sow the seeds of a new future for the star and all who dwell upon it.

This piece from LittleBadWolf back in December of 2021 was something of a celebration of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker’s release. Having had access to it for a few weeks, I had cemented the outfit I would use for Reaper, and this was the first art I had gotten since the piece from DanSyron of my character as a Reaper. I vividly recall several people in my friend group being genuinely shocked and surprised at how emotional and evocative this piece looked as a final product, and that made me smile.

Perhaps I leaned a bit too hard on the Endwalker trailer for inspiration for this written supplement, but overall I’m happy with the final product.
