Enigma’s Rebirth

One single night.

The moment Enigma stepped out of that cage, tearing down the bars with his titan-enhanced arms, it only took one single night for him to usurp Volpes and become the new leader of the Titan Syndicate. Finally free to wield the powers that had been suppressed by mana dampeners, surrounded by the fox’s sycophants, already mentally conditioned by the alchemy that birthed him anew, it was nearly effortless to rewrite their loyalties and personalities so that they’d fall in line. Perhaps they felt the eerie aura before it claimed their minds. But even if they had, it would have already been too late.

And though Volpes was no longer an obstacle, he had to give the fox credit. His organization was well constructed, and his goal made sense: The nobility of this pathetic city were weak. Worse, their weakness was slowly poisoning it from within. They had to be eliminated before true power could take root here.

There were losses. Sacrifice. Volpes was too afraid to take the kinds of risks he needed to for a decisive victory, but Enigma was no fool. The people needed a strong hand to guide them, and he would be that hand.

Many of the nobility perished that day. Some would flee. Others would be made into servants. And yet, none of them mattered.

As Enigma sat on the throne, he declared Oplentis would be his new empire. His ambitions had only just begun.

This piece from Marsel-Defender is yet another example of a YCH that spent far too long in my files, from August 2024 to February 2025 (the current month as of the time of writing).

One of the constants I want to keep reiterating with Emperor Enigma is that he’s power-hungry. The one thing he refuses to be is weak, and the idea that anyone could take him on is fuel to train and grow ever stronger.

Were it not for being a titan, it would be damaging and unhealthy. However, with a body that can withstand and heal from such grueling training, it works for him.
