Be Ever Vigilant

It was supposed to be a simple job. The prodigal psionicist had naught but to uncover and neutralize whatever was causing the series of disappearances of an isolated village in the middle of nowhere, on a plane that didn’t appear to be in any of the Magistrum’s files.

Surely nothing bad could happen. Certainly nothing life changing.

Of course, we all know how that turned for. For it was this same job that would entwine Enigma’s fate with that of an alien entity the likes of which neither he nor anyone on Crossroads had ever seen before.

The normally composed and controlled Enigma, caught off guard, forcibly bonded to a symbiote that would one day become his trusted Companion.

I’d say the mind mage should have taken his own advice, but I suppose it all worked out in the end. Certainly surprised his apprentice when he came back home though.

Another one of LittleBadWolf‘s excellent YCHs, done for me back in August of 2020 as something of a pseudo prequel to Enigma getting possessed by Companion.

If I take the symbiote timeline forward, I don’t believe it will involve Edmund, Volpes, or anything related to that story-line. I would likely make it its own separate thing. Companion is enough already without throwing in too many other complications.

But the more I go back and reflect on it, the more I do find myself wanted to keep exploring Perfect Bond Enigma a bit more. There’s meat here than I left on the bone.
