A Flight of Fancy
“I’m not as out of shape as I use to be, Ed. I’ll have you know I can run myself back home on these legs!”
Mortimer, the lithe, bespectacled rabbitkin student of the Theorum Magistrum, placed his left hands on his hips, using the other to frame his glasses as he gave a confident smile. His boyfriend and classmate, Edmund, a muscle-bound tigerkin who rarely wore a shirt, couldn’t help but let those same feelings infect him, happy to see his once shy BunBun take pride in his own hard work.
“You were the one talkin’ ’bout how it’s been a while since I flew you anywhere. C’mon. It’ll be fun.”
In the wordless way they’ve grown to communicate, both of them knew Mortimer’s protest was little more than a token resistance. Once the idea had taken purchase in their minds, a romantic flight in the skies of Magistrum City was all but inevitable.
With his arms outstretched, Edmund effortlessly caught the lapine scout-in-training as he leapt forward. Safely nestled in the larger student’s arms, Mortimer wrapped a hand around his partner for additional support, curling his free hand inward in a mocking flex.
“Long as these arms of mine aren’t too heavy for you, big guy.”
The joyous laughter of young love erupted from the hare as Edmund gave him a friendly blep on the nose. Mortimer could feel the content purr emanating from the large cat almost before he heard it.
“Who do ya think yer talkin’ to, BunBun?”
A moment passed the two by, drunk off each others company, before Edmund’s feet would begin to levitate off the ground. The young mage-in-training summoned his powers to take to the skies.
For many beastkin, it is a natural impulse to panic as the ground leaves them, falling farther and farther away, mind reeling with the terror of impacting the ground at terminal velocity. And yet, secure in his lover’s arms, Mortimer never felt safer.
I’ll always take another excuse to write these two. Their wholesome vibes consistently bring a smile to my face. So when I saw this pose from Marsel-Defender offered up as a YCH, I took my chance.
Apologies for the delay on this one. I’m experimenting with releasing my new submission in the afternoon instead of the morning, but time got away from me today.
