Crossing the Line

“They did say only the detectives were allowed to pass, though I doubt this is what they had in mind.”

Even this unfamiliar plane, with its hustle and bustle, and its technological advances compared to his own, is rife with the same familiar problems.

“And I thought Oplentis was corrupt…”

In his adventures, he’s seen his fair share of shoddy investigative work and destruction of evidence, but this was on a whole other level. It was almost as if these ‘police’, as the guards were called here, were trying to erase the crime scene rather than investigate it.

“No matter”, thought the mind mage to himself. “If you want something done right, you need to do it yourself.”

That’s how he found himself trespassing, using an invisibility charm to conceal his presence. With an actual investigator on the case, his client should be able to rest easy. And once he’s paid, he’ll finally be able to afford a bowl from the ratkin-owned noodle stand. All the locals swear by it.

This YCH came from LittleBadWolf back in June of 2023. As a creative piece, this is admittedly a little trope-y, but I enjoy playing in the space. I find throwing Enigma into this kind of setting works very well, both for me and the character.

As a fun-fact, the original pose for the YCH included the character smoking a cigarette, and since Enigma doesn’t smoke I opted to have his hand emitting magic to blend seamlessly into the smoke in the background. I’m quite fond of the effect, and I thought it worked well with Enigma and the pose.
