Enigma, dressed warmly in a jacket and scarf, carries a warm drink in a paper cup in his right hand. His left hand is outstretched to you. Behind him lies a winter celebration/festival.

The Solstice Celebration

During the time of the Winter Solstice, most of the student body leaves Magistrum City for the holidays, returning to friends and loved ones in their home countries. Most, but not all. For various reasons, many chose to remain on campus, enjoying the holiday with like minded peers, along with the campus staff and the community who call Magistrum City their home.

To ensure they feel safe and welcome, and to stave off the loneliness that can come from not having a family to return to, a celebration is thrown on the main campus every year. Stalls selling cuisine from the cultures represented in the Magistrum Accord, games of luck, strength, and skill, and quiet spaces for the more introverted among them are scattered across the main campus to make sure everyone has something they can participate in.

And while you, an orphan from another city-state participating in the Magistrum’s social outreach program, take in your first such festival since enrolling, Professor Enigma notices you. With a warm drink in hand, he invites you to make yourself at home here.

For once in your life, you feel like you just might.

As big as it is, Magistrum City is a college town at the end of the day. The whole city is built around its namesake, the Theorem Magistrum. And it’s interesting to think about how that would impact the culture that springs from within it.

Thanks to LittleBadWolf, for this wonderful take on a winter celebration.
