Warm Affection on a Cold Autumnal Night

Both Bartholomew and Volpes would struggle to put the exact nature of their relationship, and their marriage, into words if asked. So deeply entwined are their identities and histories that it is unlikely anyone could understand them the way they understand each other.

Theirs is a connection forged through over a decade of freedom fighting against the tyrannical government of Oplentis, and their subsequent rehabilitation and reintegration into society after being defeated by Detective Enigma.

It might not always be easy, since both of them are passionate about their choices in careers: One as a ranger by day and engineer by night, the other as an alchemy professor on the cutting edge of Crossroads’s medical research. Despite their busy schedules, they always make time to be together at the end of the day, savoring the moment for all its worth.

As it starts to grow colder, warm summer fading into breezy autumn, nights growing longer, the beasts in environs around Magistrum City have begun their hibernation rituals. Combined with reduced travel along the roads, and old Bartholomew, along with his fellow rangers, is left with more free time. Similarly, as students finish their semesters and begin preparations for the break, either to spend them with loved ones or hold up with their fellows in the dorms, Volpes was left with a lighter-than-average workload.

While they always found a moment to be together, this was their chance to truly relish the company, and they both took full advantage of it. With his own unique blend of herbs and extracts, Volpes even brewed a special tea for the occasion.

One thing is certain: No matter what happens from here on out, they will always have each other to lean on.

I have to thank Marsel-Defender for this one. My gallery was shockingly light on art of Azurium and Volpes being intimate and romantic together, despite the fact that they’re a married couple now. And this YCH was the perfect opportunity to fix that.
