The Light of a Dark City
His time on this plane hasn’t been easy. As one might expect of a detective, Enigma has been involved in numerous cases both big and small. It’s a curious profession for it often involves seeing people at their worst, lowest moments. Even outside of that narrow window, he would say this place is more dangerous than his beloved home on Crossroads by a wide margin.
And yet, sitting on his motorbike, looking over at a cityscape so bright that sunglasses at night still feel appropriate, from his perch on a hill not to far outside the city, he has to admit something else: There is undeniable beauty here. Much like his own people, the citizens here continue to strive for better lives, forging their own happiness where ever they can.
This might be a bad place, but it has good people.
I remember when I secured this YCH from Marsel-Defender back in July of 2024, she pulled me aside on Telegram to warn me that she was going to try for a look that strongly resembled a old VHS tape.
I informed her that not only was I okay with that, but that it’s exactly what I wanted. Cyberpunk works extremely well with that aesthetic, and it reminded me a lot of Hotline Miami. The finished work was flawless, perfectly capturing that old school Cyberpunk look that I’ve always been fond of.
I just took until November of 2024 to post it because I was churning through my art backlog.
